Third Grade Spanish
This year in 3rd grade, we have new workbooks that we are using! So far, we have been reviewing some basic conversational information (names, ages, how we're doing, favorite color, favorite animal), but Señora Ortegón is adding in new material all the time to continue to challenge us. This year we will look at the topics of: greetings; colors; numbers 1-100; clothing; seasons of the year, months and birthdays; my house; my bedroom; animals; the alphabet in Spanish; vacations; the Spanish-speaking countries of the world; and some special cultural lessons.
September 18th-October 3rd: We are currently learning the difference between formal and informal ways to address people in Spanish--a difficult concept for third grade, but they are doing well! Check out our Quizlet page (see the link below) for extra practice with this vocabulary.
October 9th-23rd: We will be learning about the 21 countries in the world where Spanish is an official language.
October 16th-November 3rd: We will learn about the primarily Mexican and Central American holiday known as "El día de los muertos" or "Day of the Dead". Sign up here to send in items for our classroom "ofrenda" or altar.
